Q: What does ‘Update’ do in Verify Catalog tool?
A: Update makes changes to the local catalog item so it matches the latest version of the item that is in the Central Catalog. The timestamp will also be set to be the same.
The update can cause an impact on instance, e.g. if a catalog item has a port deleted during update then all instances of the port will be marked as having been attached directly to the instance, not related to the catalog.

After updating the local catalog items the user can use the ‘update instances’ tool in the catalog explorer to propagate the catalog item changes to its instances. The update log that is generated is useful for identifying what catalog objects were updated.
